URGH! Sydney draw with North

April 27, 2008 by Larry

The Swans just drew with North after a grueling last quarter. The swans, who were 16 points down at one point, scored 2 goals and four behinds (urgh) to tie up the scorers. Whoops. I mean the scores. I don’t know why people were just taking shots left, right and centre, and not passing it to Adam Goodes or Micky O… Then again, I would much rather have a draw than a loss.

This is where I can really say: Sighs all round.

YouTube rant

April 26, 2008 by Larry

Why can’t people voice their opinion on YouTube? I see something on, well it feels like every single video, thats really gets my goat.

Here’s what I’m talking about:
mister1: I love football! It’s the best sport ever!
evilmister2: u wrong. football crap. Basketball lolcats.
Is it’s just me, or is that on every single post?! People just seem to shoot down others without even thinking about it? It’s like a bully in a schoolyard:
littleboy1: I love playing cricket, it’s so fun!
evilboy2: You idiot. It’s obviously that Football kicks mr Cricket’s bottom.
Sorry if I’m being ridiculous, but does anyone share my stolen goat?

BALL!

April 26, 2008 by Larry

Can I just get this straight? I love the AFL, and I barrack religiously for the Sydney Swans. But when there is any doubt whatsoever in the rules, you should scrap them.

Holding the ball, for one, is the most doubtful rule in the game. The point of this rule is not to waste time. When you get tackled, you have to get the ball out. But these days, if someone gets held by a great tackle, it’s holding the ball, and the umpire will signal that within two seconds. I mean if it’s called ‘Holding the ball’, then the person trying to hold it in should be penalized. Because if someone gets tackled and it’s called play on, they can get it out. I think it should be play on for say, 5 seconds, before you get penalized.
Is it just me, or does it feel like dropping the ball has disappeared in the AFL. Last night, in the Western Bulldogs-West Coast Eagles game I saw at least 3 moments where someone has got tackled, tried to kick the ball, and it has been called play on. I’m sorry, but if that’s not dropping the ball, I don’t know what is.
I could go on with in the back and holding the man and such, but I won’t.

Psystar demos "Open Computer" in video

April 26, 2008 by Larry

Sure, I thought it was a hoax. Sure, you thought it was a hoax. But it’s not. Psystar, the company who boasted the ‘OpenMac’, a Mac clone that runs Leopard out o’ the box, has released a demo of their now named ‘OpenComputer’, running Windows, Ubuntu and, you guessed it, Leopard.

The video shows three OpenComputers, one running OS X Leopard, another running Ubuntu 8.04 and the other running Windows XP Professional. It says that although the computer runs OS X Leopard, an OS not known for its gaming, can run Quake 4 with all the options set to the max.
I reckon that this actually looks pretty good but what would Steve think about this? I doubt that it will be out for very long, as Apple will probably sue.

Cats by a whisker at Subiaco

April 25, 2008 by Larry

The Dockers were up by 25 points at the three quarter time and it looked like they would win it, but Geelong piled on five goals in a row, before the Dockers got a goal, and with one and a half minutes remaining it was 89-87 in Geelong’s favour. But Matthew Pavlich had the ball in his hands and was lining up from about 45 metres out, with a bit of an angle. He’s kicked it! NO! It hit the post and the Cats won by one single point.

Heartbreak for the Dockers, as they were 39 points up in the first quarter.

Magpies thrash the Dons in the ANZAC Day clash

April 25, 2008 by Larry

Okay, sure, I wasn’t exactly right. The magpies thrashed Essendon by 73 points, not 2 goals, but it was definitely a shootout… from one end. Paul Medhurst starred, kicking 6 goals, but made  a couple of mistakes that could have gave him at least 8. Essendon were very good in the first face, but seemed to drop off after the quarter-time break. Here’s the stats:

Test post from Flock

April 25, 2008 by Larry

Hey everybody,
This is a test post, using ‘The Social Web Browser’ Flock, which gives you integrated functionality of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and numerous blogging tools. I think it is very nice, but does take a while to get used to. Anyway, I’m going to watch the AFL blockbuster Collingwood vs Essendon from the MCG.

Thanks!

Hint – Random blog

April 25, 2008 by Larry

The bar that accompanies the top of every Blogger blog has a button “Next Blog” which takes you to a random blog. This is a great thing, but to read a random blog, you have to be reading a blog in the first place. If you want to have this luxury from any webpage, you can drag the button onto your Bookmarks Bar, and when you click it, it takes you to a new blog!

Collingwood vs Essendon

April 25, 2008 by Larry

Whos going to win? It’ll be close, but I reckon Collingwood will win by 2 goals in a shootout. Daryl Thomas will get Man of the Match, because he always rises to the occasion. I hope Alwyn Davey plays

Who do you reckon will win?
